Altmühl Valley Nature Park
You could be mistaken for thinking this was Thailand instead of Germany with the beautiful limestone formations! It's around 100km north of Munich and it's a popular spot for canoeing and kayaking. There are also medieval castle ruins such as Prunn Castle.

Lake Starnberg
Lake Starnberg is popular with swimmers, sailers, and hikers due to beautiful alpine backdrop. It's located just outside of Munich so you can enjoy some peaceful surroundings before you hit the city.
