Relocation FAQ's

  • What is a relocation and why is it so cheap?
    A relocation holiday is the most affordable way to see Australia, New Zealand and USA and Canada. acts as an agent for all the major campervan and car rental companies. These companies have hundreds of vehicles which need relocating to different cities around Australia, New Zealand,the USA and Canada each day.
  • How far ahead can I book?
    Most trips become available in the month prior to travel, however we do get more notice for seasonal and factory relocations. Please register with us 6 weeks prior to travel so we can assist in securing you a vehicle or add your details to our waiting list /imoova/relocations/join-our-waiting-list

  • Do I need a special license to drive the campervans?
    No, if your license is written in English this is fine or you can use an International driver’s license.
     If your license is written in a language other than English you can contact your embassy for a sworn translation.
    You do need to be 21 years or older and drivers over 75 need a yearly medical certificate.
  • Can I add extra days in additon to the days allowed?
    Yes you can. You must return the vehicle by the latest delivery date specified. The extra days can be purchased at the rate given by the supplier and quoted on Most extra days cost $75-$100 per day. Please check with us at the time of booking.
  • Are there mileage restrictions for relocations?
    Yes. These distances are given to us by the suppliers and include a minimum of 150 kilometres over and above the direct distance. Please note that a charge of 28- 55 cents per kilometre/mile over your allowance applies to most trips.
  • How are the relocation days calculated?
    Campervan relocations in Australia and New Zealand are calculated on calendar day’s basis (not 24hrs) and in USA and Canada the charge is per night. Most campervan relocations are available for pick up from 10am and must be returned by 3pm on the last day. Keydrops are not permitted.

    Car rental relocations are calculated on 24 hour periods.
  • Petrol costs and fuel allowances?
    Some of our deals include a fuel allowance. The allowance is refunded back to you at drop off on presentation of tax receipts. Fuel consumption is generally 14-17 litres per 100km, depending on vehicle size. The allowance is an amount towards your fuel cost and any fuel cost over this amount will be at your own expense.
  • Are ferry crossings included?
    In New Zealand the ferry crossing is usually included for the vehicle and sometimes for driver. The ferry crossing is booked by you directly with the supplier. will include details with your booking confirmation.

    In Australia the ferry to/from Tasmania is usually prebooked by the supplier with the Spirit of Tasmania. Additional passengers can be added directly with the Spirit of Tasmania once the ferry crossing booking number has been provided by the supplier.
  • What are the travel restrictions with the Campervans, Motorhomes, 4WDs and cars?
    Relcoation campervans, RVs, motorhomes and 4WDs are only to be driven on sealed/bitumen roads.
    NOTE: if you are relocating a 4WD vehicle, you are not permitted to take the vehicle four wheel driving or on 4WD tracks. The Terms and Conditions of your relocation will be explained and highlighted to you upon collection of your vehicle.
  • Are the campervans fully equipped?
    In Australia and New Zealand the campervans are fully equipped with all your camping and cooking needs. Linen and bedding is also included with most of the trips or can be hired for a nominal fee.

    In USA and Canada the relocation fee doesn’t include your linen/bedding or kitchen equipment. These can each be hired for an additional fee and this can be arranged at pick up.
  • Which campervans are suitable for child restraints?
    Most of the 4, 5 and 6 Berth campervan have anchor points for child restraints. Please call imoova if you need assistance with this.
  • Is there a booking fee and cancellation fee?
    Yes, the booking fee is $25.00 and a refundable holding deposit of $50.00-$100.00.
     If the vehicle is booked and then you need to cancel, the booking fee and holding fee are no refundable.
  • Is there an insurance excess?

    Most relocation vehicles will have an insurance excess of $1000, however this will vary depending on the supplier. The insurance excess is charged to your credit card as a bond when you pick up. Please check insurance details specific to the relocation that you are taking at the time of booking.

  • How do I pay for my booking fee, holding deposit and bond?
    Payment of your booking fee, holding deposit and insurance excess must be done by Visa or Mastercard.
    Debit and Credit Card are accepted unless specified.
    The insurance excess can only be paid when you collect the vehicle and the credit card holder must be present at pick up to sign the rental agreement and present their drivers license.
  • What is the quickest way to make a booking?

  • What happens once I book online?
    We will contact the supplier to confirm availability. If the vehicle is available we will charge your credit card the booking fee, holding deposit and extra day deposits if applicable. A confirmation email will be sent to you with detailed information which includes all pick up and drop off details. You are then ready to start your adventure! If your booking request cannot be confirmed your details will be added to our priority waiting list and we will contact you as soon as we have a trip to suit you.
  • Can I join a waiting list?
    You can join our waiting list /imoova/relocations/join-our-waiting-list and we will send you a text or email once we get a trip. Alternatively please email us at with these details:
